The Dinagyang contigent from Iloilo has probably one of the best organized costumes. It’s because the headdress for the girls were made from curly wigs. Add to the black face make-up and they all look the same.

The best part with Aliwan Festival is that you don’t need to go all around the country to witness all of these events. They are all right there, in a single day, and all you need is go around and make friends with the participants to get their pictures.

Aliwan Fiesta 2008
The Aliwan Fiesta is an annual celebration of regional cultures in the Philippines. Dozens of provinces and regions send in their dance groups or tirbes to Metro Manila every summer to compete against each other for the top prize. Cebu’s Sinulog and Iloilo’s Dinagyang always battle it out the championships.
